Air on the g string

The journey of Time,
A friend of mine
Recalled the secret of smiles

So I walked with Him
For a time or two
To learn of the silent miles

He told me then
That the seconds won’t wait
That minutes have minds of their own

That hours have fate
That days are late
And that weeks are painfully grown

I asked Him then,
“what of the years”?
“of the hopes and dreams that I’ve seen”?

He spoke to me then
Of destiny’s voice
And of those that He could not reprieve

I asked Him then
About the secret of Love
For those whom I’d never know
He spoke to me then
Of the Family of Man…
Of the miles that I still must go

So, I’ve changed my mind..
My desire is strong!
let courage resound with my name

And because of the desire
To right what was wrong…
A Man walks away from his chains.

Sue Conner-Ben was a great athlete and I numbered him as a friend. Ben, along with his brother, helped me so much to perfect my track activities. A warm and giving man. Miss him.
